Grants

General

General

The donations and other income we receive throughout the year fund our Grants. Supporters deeply care about disabled dogs, and they understand that our ability to aggregate funds means that their donations to us have a larger impact than they would have if given individually. See our Financial Impact below.

Eligible recipients of The Unstoppables Project Grants are US based 501(c)(3) organizations who serve disabled dogs as all or part of their missions. Grants have been used for benefits such as general vetting, major surgeries, diagnostics, equipment and rehab therapies.  Specific examples include:

Deaf Dogs Rock | Stella (deaf) + 3 puppies

Our Grant allowed DDR to provide medical sponsorship for this canine family so that A Pawsitive Life Rescue could pull them from the shelter.

Safe in Austin Rescue | various dogs (mobility impaired)

Safe has several dogs who have deformities or missing limbs, and the use of prosthetics allows for mobility and protects their bodies with proper support. Our Grant contributed to much needed replacement prosthetics for these dogs.

Scoot to the Stars | Luna (Spina Bifida)

Spina Bifida caused Luna to be mobility impaired.  Our Grant provided hydro and laser therapy to improve strength and body awareness.

Double J Dog Ranch | Maggie (Deaf; Neuro Dysfunction)

Our Grant helped DDR provide neuro testing for Maggie in order to attain a diagnosis and treatment plan.

Process

Grant Process

Our Grant process happens once a year in the fall.  The application is open to any US based 501(c)(3) that has disabled dogs as all or part of their mission. Mostly it is rescue groups who apply, but we've also had advocacy organizations as well as equipment providers.

Once the Grant Applications close, the Board

            * vets the applicants (EIN & state Business Entity checks at a minimum)

            * clarifies any missing or concerning info

            * reviews applications, both individually and as a group

            * and finally, votes

This process determines the winners of the Board Grants.

For the last several years we have also given a Community Grant which is selected by those who vote, with votes tied to donations. This process not only allows for community participation but also provides funds that seed the Grants for the following year. The details of the most recent Community Grant Process can be found here.
